Description

Fiber art, like other forms of installation art, has evolved alongside the development of contemporary art and new materials. This project strongly resonates with the concept of our art residency and is also inspired by my experiences with natural dyeing techniques. The core concept of my work came from the sails used in early maritime voyages, where sails harnessed the wind to propel ships and facilitate movement from one place to another. Today, with advancements in science, technology, and human thought, the use of cloth sails has largely disappeared, replaced by motorized devices of various kinds.

In executing this work, the dimensions of the cloth on the "ship" and the force of the wind generated within the installation are determined based on the size of the piece. Here, the flow of the river and the movement of the wind bring the installation to life, connecting the river with the fleet and creating a natural landscape for the surrounding area. Through this work, a relationship is formed between the installation and the surrounding natural environment, offering a powerful visual impact.

Since the Industrial Revolution, humans have gradually reduced their use of natural energy sources, and today we all see the impact of artificial energy use on the natural environment through global warming. Through this work, I emphasize the importance of using natural resources and following the laws of nature to guide our civilization forward for future generations. If humanity continues to ignore nature in pursuit of its own needs, the natural balance will be disrupted, and the civilization we have built will face increased destruction over time due to various natural disasters. Therefore, it is essential to always maintain a balance between nature and human society.
