Description
This work, "Vigilance", is placed at the entrance of the village, which has existed in a damaged form for hundreds of years. In the past, it was used as a watchtower to protect the village.
From a cultural perspective, the old watchtower in the original village symbolizes a defensive structure used to enhance observation and defense. Dongli Ancient Village, as a complete original village system, represents the fusion of traditional Chinese culture with modern tourism. Compared to the "defense" symbolized by the watchtower in the original village, Dongli Ancient Village reflects a more welcoming attitude towards outsiders, symbolizing a shift from "defense" to "welcome." This transition holds many interesting perspectives.
