Most of my sketches and other forms of drawing are based on observing specific objects or places directly. Whether it is snowfall in the middle of the night or the strong winds of a typhoon reaching 150 km/h in Shanghai, I try to capture the essence of these extreme weather conditions and the emotions they evoke. I still remember witnessing my first snowfall in China in 2020. It was midnight, and I stayed outside my dormitory, sketching hundreds of drawings to document and experience that moment. I continued this practice during typhoons in 2021 and 2024 as well in Shanghai.
Until now, I have produced more than a thousand sketches in China alone, all driven by my desire to connect with different places and understand how they interact with my inner self. These drawings help me reflect on the real presence of objects, the atmosphere of the space, and my personal response to natural phenomena. This process feels like a conversation-or even a struggle—between my inner emotions and the outer environment. For me, doing something without any challenge often feels meaningless. Therefore, I constantly try to push my boundaries, test my creative limits, and explore how far I can stretch my ideas through my own lived experience.
